Since graduating from Bradford College in 1998, Darren has worked tirelessly to achieve a foothold in the art world. He was fortunate to receive some prestigious commissions and exhibition opportunities soon after leaving college.
As a result, he exhibited in London and at the age of 23 was then invited to exhibit at a UK Millennium Show in New York. In that same year he was appointed official artist of The Professional Footballer’s Association.
Darren has received commissions from many blue-chip galleries, companies and leading personalities. He has exhibited widely throughout North America, Japan, Europe and the UK. Darren’s work includes such diverse subjects as still life, interior, portraiture, figurative, equestrian, landscape, ballet and sport.
His sports portraits are particularly sought after, having produced Footballer of the Year portraits for The PFA of both Ruud van Nistelrooy and Teddy Sheringham. He is currently receiving acclaim for his painting of Jonny Wilkinson and England’s rugby World Cup triumph.
His paintings hang in private and public collections at home and abroad. Even to the extent that portraits of Prince Charles and Tony Blair hang in St James Palace and 10 Downing Street respectively.
But Darren’s greatest joy is that his naturalistic paintings and drawings can be understood and appreciated by so many. In London his work is accepted by both the Royal Academy and Mall Galleries.
